Awards for INAB Research on Cancer
The Lymphoid Malignancies Study Group at INAB/CERTH in collaboration with the Hematology Department and HCT Unit at the G. Papanicolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, received 3 of the 6 awards for best oral abstracts and 1 of the 3 awards for the best posters of the 24th Annual Meeting of the Hellenic Society of Haematology that took place in Athens, 14-16 November 2013.
The collaboration of the two groups is grounded on intedisciplinary research in the fields of genomics, epigenetics, signalling and bioinformatics. In this context, Dr. Kostas Stamatopoulos, Director of INAB/CERTH and Group Leader, has coordinated large-scale scientific project of multi-institutional collaborative consortia from Europe and the US focusing on multiparametric analysis of lymphoid malignancies in large patient cohorts.
These studies assist in the identification of patient groups requiring special management, the introduction of biologically-oriented therapy and novel diagnostic/prognostic markers, and, more generally, in the promotion of health and biomedical research.
