The European research project PROTEIN aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, prevent from chronic diseases (e.g. obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease) and develop novel tools to provide personalized nutritional advice (precision nutrition) to EU citizens.
By using the latest information and communications technologies (wearable sensors, artificial intelligence algorithms, mobile applications) and collecting nutritional, physical activity and biological data, PROTEIN aims to promote a healthy and personalized nutrition. In the frame of PROTEIN, our research team consists of the principal analysis center of biological data (SNPs genotyping, metabolomics, gut microbiome) that will be produced from other pilots in people with obesity, diabetes or cardiovascular diseases (May-September 2022).
Our team aims to investigate the potential of incorporating biological data information in precision nutrition approaches. In parallel with other trials, our team will carry out a pilot in healthy individuals (May-June 2022), who apart from biological data analysis, will be also followed by a collaborating nutritionist. All biological data will be integrated with nutritional, physical activity and lifestyle data using deep learning methods and aiming to precision nutrition
