During the SARS-CoV-2 virus crisis, INAB, in cooperation with the Regions of Central and Western Macedonia, was responsible for the genetic control management of SARS-CoV-2 virus detection in mink farms.
INEB, as a pioneer of the local community and economy through the research innovations it has developed but also in the context of One Health policy, is a reference center for the surveillance and early detection of viruses/diseases in fur-bearing farms in order to prevent the transmission from infected animals to other members of the farms.
Thus, INAB’s research team assists mink farmers in selecting and breeding only healthy animals, removing the asymptomatic ones that are carriers of certain diseases, also helping them minimize the loss of their breeding animals and preventing the transmission of zoonoses.
